New Puppy Guide
Congratulations!
It's almost time to bring your new puppy into your home.
Both Golden Retriever and Goldendoodle puppies need the same basic care at this age.
We have created this helpful new puppy guide so you dont have to remember everything we will go over on pick up day. You can use it in advance to help answer some of your questions and start getting ready for the big day.
A printed copy will be in your packet when you get your puppy.
We are going to go over all of this on the day you get your new fur baby but take this opportunity to review and prepare questions.
Register Your Puppy's Microchip
All our puppies receive a prepaid microchip identification implant, with a lifetime enrollment.
Pet microchips are not tracking devices. They are radio-frequency identification (RFID) implants that provide permanent ID for your pet.
Because they use RFID technology, microchips do not require a power source like a GPS. When a microchip scanner is passed over the pet, the microchip gets enough power from the scanner to transmit the microchip's ID number. Since there's no battery and no moving parts, there's nothing to keep charged, wear out, or replace. The microchip will last your pet's lifetime.
In order to be activated, the microchip number must be registered in your name with your contact information. This guarantees that if your puppy goes missing, the person who finds them can have them scanned and then contact you to return them.
Lifetime Registration also means no more fees. Every pet microchip registration includes an Owner Certificate, Mobile Member Card, Training4Good™ series, SearchAlert™ and Pet Insurance Discount.
Register your puppy’s Microchip Or scan the code provided with your phone.
Schedule an appointment with your trusted Veterinarian.
Although your puppy has had a check up and first round of vaccinations, it is recommended that you bring your puppy to your trusted veterinarian for a wellness check. This will help familiarize your puppy with the vet's office and register your new puppy, making it easier to schedule future vaccinations. They will also recommend a flea and heartworm treatment.
For your first vet appointment, bring along the health record we provided in your packet. This will inform the vet staff of all prior vaccinations and treatments.

Order Puppy Food
On Puppy Pick Up day, you will be provided with a few days' supply of the dog food that your puppy has been eating. This will give you enough time to switch or purchase a larger bag of their current puppy food, TLC.
At Golden Puppies, all our puppies and dogs are fed TLC Whole Life Nature Dog Food. We recommend TLC Dog Food because it includes only the highest quality ingredients, suitable for dogs of all ages, and affordable compared to other brands.
Currently, your puppy is being fed 1/3 – 1/2 Cup of TLC Dog Food 3 times a day. This will increase as your puppy grows and becomes increasingly more active. However, some dog foods are 3.5 - 5 cups per day. If you switch brands, make sure to carefully read the recommended serving size on the label.
Features of TLC Dog Food include:
-
Incredible health benefits & nutritional value

Snuggle Puppy
Snuggle Puppy is a great toy to help your puppy’s transition from our pack to your pack.
The adjustment period for a puppy going from their family to just humans can be challenging and anxiety ridden.
The Snuggle Puppy recreates that ‘dog-like’ intimacy for your puppy with physical warmth and a simulated heartbeat. The result is a calmer, more peaceful pet.
If you're picking up your puppy in person we can have a pre-ordered snuggle puppy here for you on Puppy Pick-Up Day.
Visit Our Shop to Purchase a Snuggle Puppy!
If you order one from somewhere else, bring it with you so we can get moms scent on it.
Read Over Our Puppy Bill of Sale
The Puppy Bill of Sale sample is available for you to read over so we can address any questions. For those who are having your puppy transported, we will e-sign the contract prior to pick up. For those picking up your puppy in person, we will complete the contract at the time of pick up.
Local Permitting
Each Community, City, Parish, County, and State has a different code or law. Most local governments do require a license or permit to have a dog. It is important to find out the local regulations about pet ownership. Unfortunately we couldn't find one resource to look up local laws by zip code or address it shouldn't be hard for you to look up your local code. If you need help please ask us and we will assist you.
